Comino was everything we’d expected and more. We set off early from St Julien’s to get the maximum amount of time on the Island. We drove up to Marfa to take the the boat to the Island. It cost about €20 and they come just about every hour from about 0800-1800. The trip takes about 30 minutes. As soon as you get close you can see the shallow blue waters of the lagoon and everyone starts going off.
The island really is overrun by tourists – at least that’s your first impression. There’s not a lot of beach room there, or even flat areas to lay your towel, so anywhere there’s space, there’s a body. Everywhere.
There’s a few little food stalls and a toilet block or two – but otherwise there’s not a lot going on. You can rent sunlounges and umbrellas and the standard European beach stuff. We went and got a snack before having a bit of a wander. We stumbled across an (unofficial?) nude beach a little way around the Island but decided we’d settle closer to the action – overlooking the Blue Lagoon.
We had a bit of a swim and a paddle across to Kemmunett to get some photos looking back over Camino. After that Ellie decided to lay in the sun while I had a bit of a hike around the Island, to Crystal Lagoon.
