When I was researching the trip online, lots of people said don’t bother with the Open Air Museum – saying that there was nothing there that we wouldn’t see after doing a couple of walks.
While this may have been true, we found a trip to the museum worth the 20 lira, if only for the quick introduction to the area. We were bummed out to find, later on, that there was a Petra-esque narrow passage leading through a tight valley that we’ll have to check out next time we’re in the neighbourhood.
We spent about an hour in the museum learning about the history of the region and exploring some of its caves and caverns before continuing up the ride a kilometre or two to the campsite that signals the beginning of the Rose Valley walk.
